The Lighthouse Club, the Construction Industry Charity, is £33,000 better off after a Kubota mini excavator was raffled in aid of its Benevolent Fund.

Kubota (UK) Ltd - Construction Equipment donated the new 2.6 tonne KX61-3 machine, worth around £20,000, after earlier in 2008 becoming the first mini manufacturer to sell more than 30,000 units in the UK market.

The draw was made at the Lighthouse Club's 52nd annual dinner held at Grosvenor House, Park Lane, London.

The lucky winner, who was at the dinner, straight away donated the machine back to the charity and asked for it to be auctioned off. Both the draw winner and the company who made the highest auction bid wish to remain anonymous.

Guy Walker, a member of the council of the Lighthouse Club said: "The gift by Kubota of their 'milestone' mini excavator was a very generous one. We are also extremely grateful to the draw winner for donating back the machine to us and to the successful auction bidder. It has given our benevolent fund a welcome windfall of over £33,000."

Richard Harrison, Kubota UK Sales & Marketing Manager, said: "Donating the KX61-3 to the Lighthouse Club was our way of saying thank you to all those in the construction industry who helped us become the first manufacturer of mini excavators to break through the 30,000 sales figure in the UK. We are delighted that the machine raised so much money for the charity on the night."

Tickets for the draw had been sold on Kubota stands at various events held around the country throughout the year, including its series of Kubota Live! roadshows.

Kubota is the UK, European and world leader in mini excavators and provides the widest range of machines available from a single manufacturer. Customers can select from 19 base models spanning the weight range from 850kg to 8 tonnes and including the largest selection of zero tail swing machines.

Its machines have a legendary reputation for quality, performance, reliability, versatility and excellent residual values, coupled with outstanding dealer support and, in addition to their unique 'ANTI-THEFT' security system, all models now also carry a full 3 year warranty as standard - providing unbeatable value for money, a vitally important consideration in the current economic climate.

The compactness, productivity, versatility and cost-effectiveness of Kubota mini excavators make them ideal for many different applications and end-users; from building, construction, civil engineering, quarrying, demolition, recycling and landscaping, to plant hire companies, utilities and owner operators.
