The LB Series of rotary drilling rigs from Liebherr complements the well-established range of LRB combined piling and drilling machines and is designed for operations using Kelly equipment, continuous flight augers and double rotary heads.

There are four models in the LB range, with operating weights from 68.40 and 113.50 tonnes, capable of drilling diameters of between 1200mm and 2500mm to depths from 35 to 70 metres using Kelly equipment. For example, the LB 28 has a torque of 28mT and a rope descent system with an advantageous 40 tonnes retraction force, providing maximum power and reliability even under the toughest ground and operating conditions. Each of the four models is powered by a Liebherr made Stage IIIA / Tier 3 diesel engine, which not only produces excellent fuel consumption figures but is also compliant with all the latest noise and exhaust emission reduction requirements. Engine outputs are 270kW on the smallest LB 20 model, right up to 350kW for the largest in the range, the LB 36, giving power to spare on even the toughest drilling tasks.

The robust leader design and kinematics with a wide system width, are unique to the range, producing optimum stability during drilling operations, enhancing accuracy and power whilst also reducing wear and maintenance requirements and thereby extending the machine's lifespan.

The basic machine and leader can be transported is a single unit but, where transport restrictions apply, the leader features a quick-assembly system for a fast set-up time once on site.

The LB range is equipped with Liebherr's tried and tested, high-technology Litronic engine and hydraulics management system and the latest generation CANBUS. Litronic not only contains all the necessary programmes for the various drilling procedures but also provides service and trouble-shooting information in a clear and comprehensive format. Plug-in modules are available for the inclusion of a modem for remote maintenance and process data capture for documenting the work being carried out.
