At the beginning of 2008 Recresco - the materials recycling company - contacted MM to discuss eddy current separators for use within their glass cullet recycling. Keen to respond to customer requirements Recresco needed to provide cleaner glass without aluminium contamination and believed that the ECS was the way forward to add to their Southampton sortation plant.
After discussions regarding the technical specification of the MasterMag ECS unit, Recresco ordered the largest ECS unit in the Master Magnets current range together with the spreader feeder, to handle 25 tonnes per hour of glass cullet. Following delivery of the unit in April Recresco quickly saw the advantages of the system. Not only was it easily coping with the throughput, but the adjustability of the unit enabled the Recresco engineers to tailor the separation to exactly meet with their high standards of segregation.
Recresco were so pleased with the ECS unit performance, the quality of manufacturing and the sales service, they requested a quotation for installing ECS units at their 3 other current UK recycling centres.
With updates to their Ellesmere Port site being under taken Recresco were keen to install the best system to remove the residual aluminium. An order had been placed for an "all-metal detector" from the US, however after monitoring the Southampton site Recresco found that the large investment for the system was not going to be as cost effective as spending the money on the three ECS units.
By the beginning of May Recresco cancelled the US order and placed the order with Master Magnets for the 3 extra systems. The Ellesmere Port contract is on a rush order and together with the other units are currently in design and manufacture at Master Magnets. Each unit being tailored to exactly meet the requirements for the individual plants.
"Master Magnets were just the company that we were looking for to help us with the aluminium problem, said the director of Recresco. They had recycling industry knowledge and were quick to respond with quotes and visits to site." "Their ECS unit specification was a market leader and the first unit was delivered to our tight delivery schedule." "Master Magnets will be our first port of call for all our ferrous and non-ferrous separation for all future requirements."
The Master Magnets ECS range goes from strength to strength, the high technical specification of the unit enables customers to achieve effective separation and as always the MasterMag after sales service teamed with excellent manufacturing quality prove a winner time and time again.
