Blue at RWM 2008

Waste treatment, recycling and materials handling equipment specialist group, Blue Group, is exhibiting at the RWM Show again on outside Stand Number N412, where a Doppstadt AK-430K mobile high-speed shredder and a Kiverco mobile picking station will be displayed. Also on show and being demonstrated is a Nihot SDS 500 Drum Separator, which is one of a range of air separation systems which Blue is now able to offer as part of their continuing efforts to provide the wastes management industry the very best in waste recycling solutions. Inside the hall on Stand Number 1000, group company Blue Machinery (Advanced Technologies) Limited, is showing its specialist shredders and baling machines and will be demonstrating a high technology Pellenc detection and separation machine.

Blue offers the recycling, waste management industries, local authority waste treatment plants and transfer stations a wide range of shredding, composting, screening, crushing and conveying equipment for the efficient and cost-effective processing of inert and green waste. In addition to Doppstadt shredders and Kiverco trommels, recycling plants and picking stations, Blue's portfolio of distributorships also includes Powerscreen screening, washing and recycling equipment, TEREX Pegson mobile crushing plants, Backhus compost and soil turning machinery, General Kinematics finger screens and destoners and Telestack static, mobile and telescopic conveyors. Blue Group company, Blue Machinery (Advanced Technologies) Limited, is the appointed distributor for Precimeca tyre shredders, Marathon fully automatic waste balers and Pellenc specialist separators. The company also markets its own BMAT range of compact, semi-automatic closed end balers.

The Doppstadt AK-430K Mobile Shredder on display is designed and built specifically for both green and wood waste processing. The AK-430K boasts large volume capacities for the effective and efficient chipping and shredding of tree-trunks, roots, pallets and building timber waste, green and organic waste. The crawler-mounted mobile version on show is agile and manoeuvrable and can be quickly and easily moved around the site.

A high-speed shredder, the Doppstadt AK-430K has a number of operational, safety and maintenance features. These include hydraulically folding conveyor for swift set-up time; large maintenance access doors and centralised lubrication points; patented load sensing material feeding system; easily replaceable flail tips to suit the materials that are to be shredded. The Doppstadt AK-430K is also available with remote control which can be operated from the feeding materials handler's control panel. The operator can simply activate the Doppstadt as soon as the hopper loading operation begins, with complete control over the chipping process without having to leave the cab.

Blue offers a range of Kiverco Picking Stations and conveyor systems which can be customised to virtually any size to suit customers' applications.  On display is one of Kiverco's bespoke mobile picking stations. Pickers can be positioned on either or both sides of the variable speed conveyor and, for enhanced working conditions for operatives, fully enclosed cabin work stations have heating and lighting. Discharge chutes can be positioned as required and in any number for convenient "binning" of unwanted or recyclable materials in their respective stockpiles.

The Nihot SDS 500 on demonstration is one of a whole range of controlled air separation systems. A single drum separator, the Nihot SDS 500 uses controlled air to separate waste input into two fractions - heavy and light. Comprised of a combination of recirculation fan, a separation section with a rotating drum and a connecting expansion chamber, range capacities are up to 100 tonnes per hour input and up to 25 tonnes per hour of separated light fraction, depending on material densities. Versatile and innovative, the separator can process varied waste streams, including those with high moisture content and large fraction sizes such as plastics or foils. Featuring few wearparts and low maintenance requirements, the Nihot SDS 500 is an ideal machine either as a stand-alone unit for separating or upgrading waste materials, or as an integral part of an MRF installation.

Blue Group company, Blue Machinery (Advanced Technologies) Limited, is displaying state-of-the-art separation, baling and shredding equipment which are specifically targeted at large waste processing groups, independents, municipal waste management, MRF operators, converters and the packaging industry. The company has three world-class distributorships - Marathon, Pellenc and Préciméca.

The products of Marathon's recycling equipment division, NEXGEN Baling Systems, entered the UK market in 2005 and began building a reputation in the UK as robust, productive and reliable machines for the baling of board, paper, plastics, light alloys and solid waste. As one of Blue's more recent distributorships, the Marathon NEXGEN range of fully automatic two-ram and channel baling presses is already proving to be an extremely successful addition to Blue's activities with numerous units already sold to key recyclers around the country.

Pellenc Sorting Technology is the leading European manufacturer of a comprehensive range of high technology detection and separation machines that are capable of analysing, recognising, separating and ejecting selected recyclables from mixed waste and Blue Machinery (Advanced Technologies) Limited will be staging a working demonstration of one of these remarkable  and lightning-fast machines. The comprehensive product range encompasses a multitude of separating disciplines and there is a Pellenc sorting machine for virtually every application:- Separating polymers; cardboard and plastics; PET; WEEE; separation and ejection of contaminants from compost. Depending on the variants and materials involved, Pellenc equipment can sort by material or colour, before or after shredding and before or after prewash. Purity is up to 90% and volumes are up to 6 tonnes per hour. Pellenc technology employs state-of-the-art spectroscopy for simultaneous recognition of all materials, with technical options that allow the processing of difficult materials such as PETG, plastic labels, multiple layering and so-on.

Préciméca designs and manufactures a large programme of specialist tyre and co-mingled waste shredding machines. Both static and mobile models are available in a comprehensive range to suit all input sizes and volumes.

The BMAT 44 full penetration semi-automatic baling press is a versatile and compact machine, designed and built for low volume recycling applications of up to 2.5 tonnes per hour. Full ram penetration provides maximum available force on every stroke, producing a high density, well compacted mill size bale which maximises transport space. Bale integrity is preserved through fully automated bale ejection and the inclusion of an automatic "portcullis" door. Additionally, easy-feed bale-wire guides simplify the manual bale tie operation and there is also an option for using twine if required. Bale density settings can be adjusted for input materials and there is photo cell start and a "bale ready" indicator.
