Hydrex has purchased a number of Komatsu Long Reach Excavator Machines including the PC 130, 210, 240 and 350 models with outreach ranging from 14.5 to 22.5 m.
Replacing draglines in an aggregate quarry with the long reach excavator provides an advantage when it comes to submerged material, increasing productivity with faster cycle times and can reduce operating costs. It is claimed to be operator friendly, easy to maintain and manoeuvrable on site.
The long reach excavator offers a solution for the marine industry dredging from land or on pontoons, for inland waterways and for specific requirements on construction sites.
Hydrex has appointed Peter Mortimer, one of the few UK specialists on long reach capability, to head up this niche operation. Peter focused on the long reach requirement for a considerable number of years and now heads up the Hydrex initiative in supplying appropriate machines for the job.
The Hydrex machines are fitted with a Prolec Digmaster, which facilitates accurate monitoring of dig depth underwater.
Peter Mortimer commented: "Providing our customers with the long reach solution and access to new top brand machines gives Hydrex a competitive edge".
