KKB 3R, a remediation and recycling contractor based in Rochester, Kent, has completed the purchase of 12 new machines from Finning, the UK Caterpillar distributor.  They were purchased as part of a package that included CAT finance and product support from Finning's national service network.  The selection of equipment included six wheel loaders (three Cat 950Hs and three Cat 966Hs); five hydraulic excavators (two Cat 320DLs, a Cat 323DL and two Cat 330DLs) and Caterpillar's new Cat D6T LGP track-type tractor.  KKB also runs a Cat 730 ADT as part of its existing fleet, which was purchased from Finning in 2007.

Commenting on the deal, Colin Basi, KKB 3R director said: "Product support is always number one for us when making decisions about fleet renewal." He added: "After sitting down with Andy and discussing what support we needed, it was obvious that the backup and service from Finning was up to the task and we were totally reassured that Finning could give us exactly what we wanted.  As part of the deal we also got a 3 year warranty on all of our equipment, giving us extra piece of mind."

Defining the ‘three Rs' as remediation, recycling and regeneration, KKB 3R works within a variety of sectors, including land cleaning, earthworks and aggregate processing. As a solution provider, the company offers equipment that can deal with a range of customer materials and waste handling needs.

Colin added: "Due to the high-risk levels of working with potentially contaminated goods, the choice of equipment is just as important to us as the fleet renewal itself."

Available with a variety of undercarriage configurations the Cat D6T LGP is suited to KKB's application.  The LGP (Low Ground Pressure) tracks ensure optimum performance on soft ground surfaces, making it suitable for land clearing conditions and working with unstable piles of waste.

Replacing the Cat D6R Series III, the Cat D6T LGP also comes with guarding and cooling systems as standard.  The guarding protects vital components and body of the tractor from harmful environments and the build up of waste matter, minimising downtime. Also a combined system of separate hydraulic pumps and a Multi Velocity Program (MVP) provides KKB operators with a selection of five speed ranges and automated speed control, enabling the Cat D6T track-type tractor to be productive in diverse of conditions.

Colin concluded: "With 125 machines in our fleet we are now working with Finning to continue our fleet renewal and investment programme.  With orders already in the pipeline for new equipment in the summer, we look forward to a hard working and fruitful relationship with Finning in the future."
