Liebherr at RWM 2008

Liebherr at RWM 2008

Liebherr-Great Britain Limited is exhibiting again at the Recycling & Waste Management Exhibition 2008, taking place from 16th - 18th September at the NEC Birmingham. On the Liebherr stand (Number N112) will be three "new generation" materials handling machines from the company's comprehensive range of equipment specifically designed and built for recycling, waste management and landfill operations.

The A 934C Litronic Materials Handler

A 40 tonnes class wheeled machine, the A 934C Litronic is powered by a D 934L turbo-charged and after-cooled Liebherr engine complying with Stage IIIA / Tier 3 emissions and developing 150 kW at 1,800 RPM. The heavy-duty axles feature front oscillation lock which can be either automatically or operator controlled and travel speed is infinitely variable and between 2.50 and 18 km/h (road speed). Four hydraulic outriggers provide optimum stability for stationary operations. The machine on display will be a long-reach version equipped with a type 70C clam mechanism with hydraulic swivel, a 0.80 m³ five tyne grab, an 8.60 metres angled monobloc industrial boom and a 7.50 metres angled industrial stick, both with load-holding valves. Maximum load capacity is 4.60 tonnes at 15 metres radius using outriggers; 2.30 tonnes free-on-wheels. Central automatic lubrication is fitted as standard.

For load visibility, the ergonomically designed operator's cab can be hydraulically elevated to give a line of sight raised to approximately 6.85 metres. The Litronic engine and hydraulics management system provides complete operational data and safe load indication, air-conditioning is standard as is armoured glass, and the fully adjustable seat is heated and equipped with an automatic ventral safety belt. The steering wheel is adjustable and the twin joysticks are integrated into the seat armrests, providing positive and accurate control of slew and attachments.

The L 5562plus2 High Lift Waste Handler

The Liebherr L 5562plus2 is an articulated, hydrostatically driven wheeled loader in the 17 tonnes class, with a tipping load of 14,650 kg and is one of a range of sixteen wheeled loading shovels from Liebherr. Power is supplied by a new generation Liebherr made engine which develops 190 kW and the high-tip bucket capacity is 3.80 m³. The L 5562plus2 has a high level, isolated cooling system which is equipped with a fine mesh filter and an automatically reversing fan to maintain radiator cleanliness and efficiency. The hydrostatic driveline system on the loader not only contributes to considerable fuel consumption benefits (around 11 litres per hour on waste handling applications) but also, with limited slip differential in both front and rear axles, produces good efficient pushing power when stockpiling whilst, at the same time, prolonging tyre life. An automatic greasing system is standard and greatly contributes to reducing maintenance time.

The L 5562plus2 High Lift Waste Handler on display features 3050 mm high lift arms which produce a 5.3 metres dump height for easy loading of bulk trailers and waste processors - and with reach to spare. The 4.7 metres pin height of the high lift arm also allows the operator to compact material during the loading process.

Equipment and systems available with this model include automatic fire suppression and weighload system with print out facility. The machine's safety items available are reverse camera, audio reverse alarm, additional working lights and beacons.

The LR 634 Litronic Crawler Loader for Landfill Applications

Liebherr is arguably the UK market leader in crawler loaders for landfill tasks and will display one of the latest Generation 4 fully hydrostatic tracked loading shovels at RWM 08 - the LR 634 Litronic.

Powered by a Liebherr Stage IIIA / Tier 3 engine developing 135 kW, the LR 634 Litronic is a 22 tonnes class machine with a tipping load of between 13 and 14 tonnes, depending on configuration and front end equipment. Liebherr's highly developed hydrostatic drive system remains at the heart of this machine, which now also includes the well-proven high-technology Litronic engine and hydraulics management system to ensure optimum output and efficiency at all times, as well as fulfilling a diagnostic role for maintenance and workover.

Standard landfill specification includes all the necessary features required to protect the machine and operator - even on the most arduous of sites. These features include lift cylinder covers, external air supply alternator, exhaust manifold isolation, radiator guard, engine air pre-cleaner with automatic dust ejection, cooling system reversible fan, final drive protection rings and fine perforated plates to the engine housing. Optional extras are available such as rear striker bar, fuel tank guard, track shoes with trapezoidal holes, tilt cylinder guard. Rear-view CCTV systems can be installed, as can an automatic central lubrication system.

For the operator, the spacious cab on the Liebherr LR 634 Litronic crawler loader is a comfortable, functional and safe work station for optimum performance and minimum fatigue, is glazed with tinted armoured glass and is fully ROPS and FOPS protected. The cab is lightly pressurized to prevent dust and odour incursion and is air-conditioned. A fully adjustable seat, with ventral safety belt, includes twin joystick controls integrated into the armrests - one for travel speed and direction, the other for attachment movements; Liebherr also offers an option of steering pedals via V-pattern travel control. There is even a lockable storage space under the armrest, a cup holder, coat hook and a 12v electric coolbox.

Front end attachments include standard, multi-purpose, waste and clamshell buckets with appropriate bolt-on or flush-mounted weld adaptors for teeth and cutting edges suited to the purpose and ranging from 2.2 - 2.6 m³ capacity. A rear-mounted rigid drawbar or three-shank ripper can also be fitted.
