TEREX Finlay J-1160 Jaw Crusher – Versaltility without compromise

TEREX Finlay J-1160 Jaw Crusher – Versaltility without compromise

Northern Ireland based company Terex Finlay is looking forward with confidence to further market growth in 2008 as it celebrates its 50th year in business. The company, which is part of the $9.1billion world-wide Terex Corporation, has just launched the J-1160 Jaw crusher, the latest development from Terex Finlay to compliment their existing range of crushers and screeners.

Featuring a high performance 1000mm x 600mm (40" x 24") Jaques jaw chamber, the J-1160 offers many unique and innovative features. Designed to suit both the recycling/demolition and quarry applications, the J-1160 has proven every bit as aggressive in both applications. Commenting on the J-1160, Dermot Harley Quarry Manager of Tony Harley & Sons Contractors stated: "I have been amazed at the sheer output of this machine. Quite simply nothing in its class matches the tonnage that it can produce. I have used it in both recycling and quarry applications and as a contractor, it means that I have versatility and performance in one machine. Furthermore its compact size and ease of transport makes it even more attractive to the contractor market."

Many of the benefits of this machine can be attributed to its innovative design. The J-1160 Jaw Crusher has an advanced PLC control/monitoring system that facilitates an automatic start/stop sequence which makes the machine more user friendly ultimately reducing operator error.

The hydrostatic system also provides precise control of the chamber speed ensuring that the operator can vary the speed of the jaw which means that throughput can be maximized. The hydrostatic transmission also enables the operator to use the reverse function to clear the chamber should a blockage occur. Moreover crushing in reverse is more suitable for certain recycling applications which again gives credence to the versatility of this small but powerful machine.

Powered by a CAT C9 (224kW/300HP) engine, the J-1160's fully hydraulic Closed Side Setting can be adjusted quickly. A heavy duty vibrating grizzly feeder with integrated pre-screen, provides an aggressive action, and separates material very efficiently.  Material from the pre-screen can be diverted to a stock pile via the by-pass conveyor, or it may join the crushed product on the main belt.  Standard hopper capacity is 5m³, but folding hydraulic extensions are available to bring the capacity to 8m³. The machine features a heavy duty chassis, with convenient access points and ladders to all service areas.  The main conveyor discharge height is 3.3m (10' 10").

Startup time for the J-1160 is minimal, with the machine ready for crushing in less than 5 minutes.  The heavy duty crawler tracks, and optional radio remote control unit, make on site mobility very easy.

This highly versatile machine has undergone extensive testing in a variety of applications and has recently taken the contractor recycling and quarrying market by storm. Complimenting an existing range of crushers and screeners, the J-1160 Jaw Crusher is proving to be a powerful addition to the Terex Finlay product offering.
