At the beginning of June Red Rhino attended a ceremony in London where environmentally friendly companies competed for the coveted title of ‘Green Hero 2008' - in recognition for their special environment projects.

Red Rhino received a trophy at the Tower of London which was once again presented by top botanist and TV personality Professor David Bellamy OBE.

The Green Hero shields are awarded annually in recognition of companies, councils and communities carrying out projects that enhance environment and that wish to share their experience and knowledge with the world.

The judges commented:  "These compact towable crushers bring full recycling potential to any building site.  Rather than sending useful aggregate to landfill, it can be crushed and reused on site, or even sold on to a third party, with benefits to the user and environment can be significant."

The range of award-winning Red Rhino recycling crushers will be featured in the next ‘Green Book', the worlds' only work of reference on environmental best practice.  "Red Rhino already won the Green Apple Award 2007 which was presented in November 2007 at the House of Commons and to receive further recognition, just illustrates how much momentum onsite recycling already has." said Marelize Campbell, Red Rhino's Marketing Manager.

The Green Apple Awards campaign is run by The Green Organisation, an independent, non-profit organization that recognizes, rewards and promotes environmental best practice around the world.

Their supporters include the Environment Agency, the Chartered Institution of Waste Management, the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health and various other professional bodies.

National organizer Roger Wolens commented:  "Organisations that go the extra mile and become Green Heroes are demonstrating a serious commitment to the world around them.  They invest in a better future for us all and deserve to be recognized for their efforts."
