Howzat? “Not Out” Says Steyning Cricket Club!

For many years now, the Sussex branch of the CMPE has paid for using the excellent facilities at Steyning Cricket Club for their regular meetings and social evenings. Just before the cricket season started this year, the club management approached them asking if, with their many contacts, they knew anyone who might be able to supply the cricketing enthusiasts at Steyning with a roller for the pitch, as the club's previous roller hire costs had now become untenable - and the CMPE duly obliged!
The CMPE Committee has purchased a Benford double drum roller for the exclusive use of Steyning Cricket Club during the season (see picture). The club can now guarantee a superb batting strip to a very high standard, thanks to the Contractors Mechanical Plant Engineers. In return for this generous gesture, Steyning Cricket Club has magnanimously offered full use of their facilities to the CMPE at no charge.
The CMPE, whilst retaining ownership of the roller, will be offering the machine out for hire during the close season (contact Pat Moore on 01323-844813), returning it to Steyning Cricket Club again as soon as the time nears for the sound of leather on willow to resume!
