WRAP appoints new Director for Scotland

WRAP has appointed Iain Gulland as its new Director for Scotland to help deliver the country's ambitious recycling and waste reduction targets. These underpin the Scottish Government's ambition for a Zero Waste Scotland.

Iain is currently Network Director of the Community Recycling Network for Scotland (CRNS), will join WRAP on 23 June. He will form part of the WRAP executive team reporting directly to Chief Executive Liz Goodwin. His post will be funded by the Scottish Government.

Iain will be responsible for delivering WRAP's first business plan for Scotland, which will be published in June.

He has a wealth of experience in recycling and waste reduction. In his current role he manages a support network for over 150 community led groups across Scotland. He is also a member of the Scottish Liaison Group on Waste and the recently established Scottish Government Zero Waste Think Tank

Prior to this, Iain also worked for Alloa Community Enterprises Ltd, and the Recycling Advisory Group for Scotland (RAGS) and at a number of local authorities in Scotland. He has worked in the recycling sector since 1993.

Iain said: "WRAP has an outstanding reputation in the waste and resources arena. I am excited about joining the team and helping to deliver Scotland's very ambitious waste reduction and recycling targets. Scotland has some very specific challenges in delivering on these targets particularly when we consider resource use throughout the supply chain. But these challenges offer some fantastic opportunities for home grown solutions which will bring real economic benefits to Scotland."

Liz Goodwin, CEO, WRAP, said: "We are delighted that Iain is joining our team to cement  WRAP's presence in Scotland. He has invaluable knowledge and experience to bring and we look forward to his input on the particular issues that Scotland faces in reducing waste and increasing recycling."

Iain will be based in WRAP's new Scottish headquarters in Edinburgh.
