The Tudor Griffiths Group based in Ellesmere, Shropshire has added another piece of equipment to its fleet for its many faceted business operations at Wood Lane Quarry.

Joining Tudor Griffiths' existing plant fleet, made up predominantly of Volvo branded equipment, is the recently introduced EC360C LC crawler excavator. The new 36 tonne machine takes charge as prime mover in Tudor Griffiths' Wood Lane quarry replacing a 3 year B series model. In order to properly manage the lifetime owning and operating costs of this and the other Volvo models in the fleet including L180E loading shovels, A35D articulated haulers, and two other excavators, Tudor Griffiths has entered into a formal servicing and maintenance agreement with Volvo Construction Equipment.

The Silver customer support agreement from Volvo provides Tudor Griffiths with a tool to budget for and track, with full visibility, the running costs of each item of plant. Regular six monthly reviews with the supplier ensure each machine is monitored to ensure its performance is managed in a cost effective way. Volvo's ‘Matris' monitoring and diagnostic tool provides added value and support to assess the machines' performance. "For example," explains group transport manager Jamie Jones, "We've immediately seen an improvement on fuel efficiency and therefore the initial running costs of the new EC360C over its predecessor. In addition, there are considerable improvements in terms of the new comfortable cab and the controllability of the machine has been welcomed by my operators."

The EC360C is powered by a 12 litre Volvo Tier III low emission engine developing 250 net hp. Coupled to the integrated work mode control hydraulic system the machine delivers high productivity, high digging capacity precision and above all excellent fuel economy.
