Finedoor increase production for Gulf Rock Engineering Group.

Finedoor of Morley, Leeds with over 40 years of previous experience in providing bespoke solutions for the quarry and recycling industries has recently been involved in a large project for the Gulf Rock Engineering Group.

Complimenting its' drilling and blasting rock excavation service, the Group operates quarries for the cement and stone industry. The project involved the supply of equipment and technical design advice for a site owned by the Gulf Cement Company, (GCC.), Ras Al Khaimah, U.A.E.

Located just north of Idhen in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, the GCC. site has extensive reserves of high quality silica. The rock being quarried is a metamorphosed sedimentary sequence, within which the Silica % varies from between 80 to 86 %.

The Group operate the crusher solely for the Gulf Cement Company and processes approximately 75,000 tons per month of shotrock to provide a -200 mm material.

The quarry plant is rated at 400 tph and utilizes a Svedala 1200 by 1000 mm primary jaw crusher which is fed by a vibratory grizzly feeder manufactured in the UK by Finedoor.

The crushed material is then scalped through a heavy-duty two-deck scalping screen which was also manufactured in the UK by Finedoor, although only one deck is utilized at present to produce the -200 mm grading. Product stacking utilizes a radial conveyor.

The processed material is subsequently hauled 75 km and provides a feedstock for a secondary crushing process at the Gulf Cement factory and ultimately to their cement manufacturing kilns.

The installation of the new feeder and screen has fulfilled the demand to increase production capacity to match the more than two fold increase in cement production.

Jonathan Cottam, general manager commented, "Despite screens and feeders being available from a variety of local suppliers, the quality of fabrication as well as the technical and post sales support provided by the Finedoor team made the choice easy for us to be a repeat customer".

This has been another major success for the Leeds based manufacturer; the reliability of the feeders and screens has been well proven over many years within other projects in the UAE and this Ras Al Khaimah contract has again underlined their international credentials where quality and reliability were upheld.
