Liebherr at The CIWM Show

Liebherr at The CIWM Show

Once again, Liebherr-Great Britain Limited is exhibiting at the CIWM Show in Torbay. On the stand will be two materials handling machines from the company's comprehensive range of equipment, specifically designed and built for municipal and commercial waste management, transfer stations and recycling operations. Newly launched earthmoving equipment and materials handling plant hire specialists, Liebherr-Rental Limited, will also have a presence on the stand, displaying one of their hirefleet of telehandlers. Liebherr-Great Britain Limited and Liebherr-Rental Limited are on Stand Number M67, Middle Green.

The L 5502plus2 High Lift Waste Handler
The Liebherr L 5502plus2 is an articulated, hydrostatically driven wheeled loader in the 16 tonnes class, with a tipping load of 11,650kg and is one of a range of sixteen hydrostatic wheeled loading shovels from Liebherr. Power is supplied by a Liebherr made engine which develops 130kW. The locally sourced Ulric high-tip trash clamp bucket fitted to the show model has a capacity of 3.50m³, which provides a superb dump height clearance of 5.38 metres - ideal for loading and tamping material into high-sided bulkers.

The L 524P2plus1 High Lift Waste Handler
This articulated, hydrostatic model has an operating weight of 10.35 tonnes, a tipping load of 7,300kg and is also powered by a Liebherr engine which develops 86kW. Featuring high-lift parallelogram lift-arms, it is equipped with a 3m³ high-tip bucket and quick-hitch attachment. The dump height on this machine is 5 metres which, again, allows easy loading of vehicles and processing machinery in waste management, transfer station and recycling applications.

Both wheeled loaders feature high level, isolated cooling systems, which are equipped with an automatically reversing fan to maintain radiator cleanliness and efficiency. A top air pre-cleaner also prolongs air filter life and protects the engine from dust incursion. The machines, in full waste handling specification, also include full belly guards and screen guards to protect both the machine and operator. Heavy duty L5 tyres have been fitted in order to provide maximum puncture prevention. An automatic greasing system is standard and greatly contributes to reducing maintenance time.

The hydrostatic driveline system on Liebherr wheeled loaders not only contributes to considerable fuel consumption benefits but also, with limited slip differential in both front and rear axles, produces good efficient pushing power when stockpiling whilst, at the same time, prolonging tyre life.

The TL 435-13 Telehandler
From Liebherr-Rental will be one of Liebherr's new hydrostatic telehandlers, which the company sees as having great potential in waste handling markets. The TL 435-13 on show is one of a range of four models and has a maximum lift capacity of 3.50 tonnes and 13 metres reach.

Stable and powerful, especially in the upper ranges of their reach, Liebherr telehandlers are powered by the same turbocharged, four-cylinder diesel engine developing 80kW. The distinctive oviform boom is borrowed from Liebherr's world-class telescopic crane technology, giving strength and performance right through the duties. Hydrostatic drive gives smooth and stepless movement, with precise, rapid and even control. A tight turning circle of only 3.8 metres combines with the hydrostatics to produce an agile and extremely manoeuverable machine and three electronically pre-set steering modes - front wheel drive, four wheel drive and crab steering - make these machines ideal on tight sites. Front outriggers are an added benefit on the model being displayed, for extreme stability when stationary.

The cab is comfortable and functional and the large windows and low boom coupling point provide excellent all-round visibility. The joystick control is easy to operate and extremely precise, with finger-tip control for altering the speed of both the working and travel hydraulics for optimum accuracy. Boom side shift is an optional extra on all models with 13 metres lifting heights.
