Equipment JV Tackles Sandstone Production

Lancashire Crushing is assisting D Wardle (Plant) Ltd in the production of sandstone as part of a glass manufacturing process in Scotland.

Lancashire Crushing is using a new LT110 track-mounted mobile jaw crusher to process sandstone at a quarry in Scotland. Supplied by England and Wales dealer Lokotrack Central, the machine forms part of an equipment-led joint venture with D Wardle (Plant) Ltd that is tackling sandstone production and processing at the site.

The mineral extraction side of the works is used to provide the raw materials for the glass manufacturing business. The extraction process is a joint venture between recognised national equipment and contracting business, D Wardle (Plant) Ltd which is providing the mobile equipment; and Lancashire Crushing which is handling the crushing process. This project marks the first joint venture between the two companies, although both report they are currently exploring at least two more in the North of England.

The LT110 is the fourth Metso Minerals supplied by Lokotrack Central to Lancashire Crushing in just over a year and marks a change in direction for the Cheshire-based company. "We made a conscious decision last year to replace our entire crusher fleet with Metso Minerals machines because they out-performed all the other crushers on the market.  And it has proved to be a sound decision," says Lancashire Crushing's Dave Atkinson. "Every machine Lokotrack Central has supplied has been a winner. The build quality is second to none, the crushing ability is superb, and we are obtaining some truly brilliant throughput figures both here and elsewhere."
