Northern Ireland company Terex Finlay reaches an important milestone this year as they celebrate their 50th year in business. Formerly known as Finlay Hydrascreens, the company had modest beginnings in a small workshop manufacturing screeners and washplant systems under the guidance of its founder, John Finlay. Now part of the $7 billion Terex Corporation, Terex Finlay has experienced enormous changes and growth over the years. Still based in Omagh, Co Tyrone, the company now employs over 450 people at their 400,000 sq ft factory and distributes a complete range of crushing, screening, washing and recycling products across the globe through an extensive global dealer network.
With it's origins as a screening and washing manufacturer, the company entered the crushing market in 2005 with the production of the J-1175 Jaw Crusher. Since then they have went from strength to strength with the introduction of; 3 Impact Crushers - the I-1312, I-1310 and the I-1310RS, a Cone crusher - the C-1540.
Jaw Crushers
The Terex Finlay J-1175, which is fitted with a 1070mm x 760mm (42" x 30") crusher chamber and a heavy-duty undercarriage. The J-1175 is highly regarded for its strength, durability and its exceptional on-site mobility. A heavy duty vibrating grizzly feeder with automatic control to regulate the feed into the crusher, Hydrostatic drive and reverse action to assist in clearing blockages, are all major features of this unit. Its compact size, ease of transport, and quick set-up times makes the Terex Finlay J-1175 unit ideal for contract crushing and demolition/recycling applications.
Impact Crushers
The I-1312 Impact Crusher has a hydrostatic drive, advanced electronic control system and hydraulically assisted apron setting. The Impactor is renowned for its high throughput and large reduction ratio, rapid set-up time, durability and on site mobility.
The Impact Crusher range has been complimented by the I-1310 and is aimed at the quarry and recycling sectors. Fitted with a 1000mm x 1000mm (40" x 40") Impactor chamber, the I-1310 is mounted on a heavy-duty undercarriage for ultimate strength and on-site mobility. Incorporating a hydrostatic drive system, this provides continuous monitoring and accurate control of the rotor speed. Positioned below the crusher chamber is the under crusher vibratory feeder which discharges onto the 900mm product conveyor belt. This feature makes this model ideal for recycling applications.
The I-1310RS combines a crushing unit, screening and stockpiling unit on one chassis. This comprises of a heavy-duty vibrating grizzly feeder with integrated pre-screen and under-crusher vibratory feeder, which reduces the risk of belt damage. The machine also incorporates a 12' x 5' (3660mm x 1520mm) sizing screen which feeds oversize material back to the hopper via the re-circulating conveyor. Another key feature is the advanced electronic control system which ensures user operation is as simple as possible. The I-1013RS also has the option of an additional stockpiling conveyor, giving an extra product from the 12' x 5' screenbox.
Cone Crushers
The C-1540 cone crushing equipment features a number of major benefits including hydrostatic drive, rapid set up time, high reduction ratio, high output capacity and advanced electronic control system. The C-1540 Cone crusher also features an integrated pre-screen. By only crushing the products that need to be crushed, the capacity of the machine is increased and wear costs reduced. The metal detector on the hopper with self-clearing facility is also another notable feature.
With an automatic tramp metal relief, hydraulically adjustable closed side settings, ease of maintenance and direct hydrostatic drive, the Cone chamber is already well established in the marketplace.
Not a company to rest on its laurels, this year will see the launch of many new products, continued development in new markets throughout the world and participation in worldwide exhibitions such as the forthcoming Con Expo/Con Agg exhibition in Las Vegas. With 50 years experience in the quarrying, aggregate and recycling industries and a reputation for engineering excellence, owners and operators are confident that Terex Finlay has a solution for their assignment, however large or small.
