- Materials Handling
For the very first time at a UK exhibition, newly launched earthmoving equipment and materials handling plant hire specialists, Liebherr-Rental Limited, will also have a presence on the stand, displaying one of their hirefleet of telehandlers which is also making its UK show debut.
Liebherr-Great Britain Limited and Liebherr-Rental Limited are on Stand Number 1, Avenue D.
The Liebherr R 914C HD-SL Litronic
Liebherr R 914C HD-SL Litronic is displayed with a number of extra features. These include an additional hydraulic circuit for a hammer and an hydraulic swivel for grab and clamshell work. For lifting duties, the machine is equipped with load-holding valves and a safe load indicator.
The R 914C Litronic is a 25 tonnes class machine with bucket capacities ranging from 0.30m³ a to 1.40m³. This particular model has been supplied with a 5.70m monobloc boom and a 3m stick. Power is provided by a reduced emissions Tier III, Liebherr made D 934 S turbo-charged and after-cooled diesel engine which develops 115kW at 1800RPM. Automatic central lubrication is included.
The operator's cab is comfortable and functional with full instrumentation and Litronic engine and hydraulics management. Air-conditioning is standard and the driver's seat is air-suspended with headrest, heating and automatic lap safety belt.
The Liebherr A 934C Litronic Scrap Handler
A 40 tonnes class wheeled machine, the A 934C Litronic is powered by a D 934L turbo-charged and after-cooled Liebherr engine complying with Tier3/Level3A emissions and developing 150kW at 1800RPM. The heavy-duty axles feature front oscillation lock which can be either automatically or operator controlled and the eight wheels are fitted with solid 12.00-20 Watts tyres. Travel speed is infinitely variable and between 2.50 and 18 kmh (road speed) and four hydraulic outriggers provide optimum stability for stationary operations. This machine is a long-reach version and is equipped with a type 70C clam mechanism with hydraulic swivel, a 0.80m³ five tyne grab, an 8.60 metres angled monobloc industrial boom and a 7.50 metres angled industrial stick, both with load-holding valves. Maximum load capacity is 4.60 tonnes at 15 metres radius using outriggers; 2.30 tonnes free-on-wheels. Central automatic lubrication is fitted.
For load visibility, the ergonomically designed operator's cab can be hydraulically elevated to give a line of sight raised to approximately 6.85 metres. The Litronic engine and hydraulics management system provides complete operational data and safe load indication, air-conditioning is standard as is armoured glass, and the fully adjustable seat is heated and equipped with an automatic ventral safety belt. The steering wheel is adjustable and the twin joysticks are integrated into the seat armrests, providing positive and accurate control of slew and attachments.
The Liebherr L 538Z2plus1 Wheeled Loading Shovel
The Liebherr L 538Z2plus1 is an articulated, hydrostatic drive machine in the 12 tonnes operating weight class and with a tipping load of just over 9 tonnes. Powered by a new generation Liebherr diesel engine type D 934 S AG, developing 105kW, this wheeled loader is powerful, agile and highly responsive. The hydrostatic drive and Tier 3 engine combine to produce excellent fuel consumption returns - as little as 6 litres per hour with the corresponding and significant reduction in CO emissions.
The L 538Z2plus1 on display is equipped for landfill operations with numerous features for this specific application. Michelin XLDD2A tyres are fitted to the machine and these are a treaded heavy-duty L5 tyre for puncture resistance and excellent traction. Both axles have limited slip differentials to avoid wheel spin for maximum push, with the added benefit of prolonged tyre life. The loader is shown in full factory-fitted landfill specification and is equipped with 1,500mm Z-lift arms, hydraulic quickhitch and a 2.10m³ bucket.
In a dusty environment such as landfill, engine protection is paramount and the L 538Z2plus1 combats dust incursion with a cyclonic pre-cleaner for the engine induction system. The isolated cooling pack is equipped with a fine mesh filter and an automatic reversing fan to maintain cooling efficiency. The operator's cab is typically comfortable, functional and a superb example of the science of ergonomics. Air-conditioned with full instrumentation, it is safety glazed with tinted armoured glass to the front guarded screen, fully sound-proofed and vibration dampened with ROPS and FOPS protection. The steering column is fully adjustable and the attachment control is via multi-directional joystick integrated into the seat armrest.
Liebherr-Rental Debuts a TL 435-13 Telehandler
Liebherr-Rental Limited is now getting well under way, offering a range of earthmoving and materials handling equipment throughout the depot network. The hire fleet is in the process of establishment with machines arriving in the UK in a continuous stream. General Manager Paul Clark and his team will be on the Liebherr stand to provide show visitors with the latest information, fleet list and rental rates.
On display is one of Liebherr-Rental's new telehandlers, a model TL 435-13, being seen for the first time at a UK show. This telehandler is one of a range of four and has a maximum lift capacity of 3.50 tonnes and 13 metres reach.
Stable and powerful, especially in the upper ranges of their reach, Liebherr telehandlers are powered by the same turbocharged, four-cylinder diesel engine developing 80kW. The distinctive oviform boom is borrowed from Liebherr's world-class telescopic crane technology, giving strength and performance right through the duties. Hydrostatic drive gives smooth and stepless movement, with precise, rapid and even control. A tight turning circle of only 3.8 metres combines with the hydrostatics to produce an agile and extremely manoeuverable machine and three electronically pre-set steering modes - front wheel drive, four wheel drive and crab steering - make these machines ideal on tight sites. Front outriggers are an added benefit on the model being displayed, for extreme stability when stationary.
The cab is comfortable and functional and the large windows and low boom coupling point provides excellent all-round visibility. The joystick control is easy to operate and extremely precise, with finger-tip control for altering the speed of both the working and travel hydraulics for optimum accuracy. Boom side shift is an optional extra on all models with 13 metres lifting heights.
