40 years in the making
So how did Finlay Plant grow into such a force to be reckoned with in the materials processing market? Its roots go back some forty years, when the company was known as Sure Equipment Limited, sole UK dealer for Northern Ireland's John Finlay Engineering. Judicious management buyouts and dealership acquisitions have evolved into a group of eleven Finlay companies with a turnover in excess of �20 million. "We've focused on delivering best-fix processing solutions for screening, washing, silt recovery, crushing, waste processing and recycling," says Leon Sheehy Managing Director of Finlay Plant South East Ltd, "which has laid foundations for our additional plant hire, spares and contracting services."

Recycling and screening
In supplying recycling and screening equipment, Finlay offer the biggest range of mobile and static crushers available from a single UK dealership "Our major suppliers are Terex Finlay, world number one in mobile crushing, screening, washing and recycling equipment," says Charles Nairn Managing Director of Finlay Plant Northern Ltd. "We also work with Pilot Crushtec, South Africa's leaders in mobile and semi-mobile crushers and screens for mining, quarrying and civil engineering." Tesab Engineering also supplies Finlay with tracked jaws, and both tracked and wheeled impact crushers.

Sand and gravel washing
Finlay has also made major inroads into the sand and gravel washing market, supplying both mobile and static equipment. "These days, ever more difficult and dirty deposits now require treatment," says John Dunne Managing Director of Aggregate Processing Solutions Ltd. "At the same time, planning and environmental restrictions have become increasingly onerous - so in response, we set up a dedicated company Aggregate Processing Solutions Ltd., offering turnkey solutions for sand and gravel washing, silt recovery, brownfield contaminant cleaning, recycling, quarry scalpings and water clarification, with equipment supplied by Terex Finlay, Trio and Baioni Products.

Waste Processing
Waste Processing Solutions Ltd is the newest company within the group sourcing equipment from Carmac Waste Handling System and other complimentary dealerships adds Gareth Johnson Managing Director of Finlay Plant S.W. Ltd to provide best fix solutions for Trommels, Picking Stations, Light Density Separation Units alongside Ferrous and None Ferrous Separators and Flexideck Screens

Finlay also offer rental services via Finlay Hire Ltd, which has a fleet of more than 120 machines available via arrange of hire agreements. Another Finlay group company, APS Ltd, provides contracting services via cost-per-ton solutions for aggregate processing; and finally, Sure Equipment Spares Ltd provides spares from a computerised central warehouse in the Midlands. "This facility is backed by strategically located satellite warehouses," says Julian Sharpe Managing Director, "plus we can draw on online spares direct from various dealership complexes." Even providing same day delivery when first thing tomorrow is not soon enough.

Soil Stabilisation & Screening Buckets
Over the previous four or five years Finlay have been actively marketing the entire Allu Range of Equipment providing soil stabilisation equipment along with crushing and screening buckets throughout the UK.
