Recycling Spells Success For Manufacturing Firm

A Scottish-based manufacturing firm could hold the key to transforming the way the UK public and private sectors process and recycle waste material.

John Craig Contracting (JCC), a family owned engineering company, has been winning favour in Scotland for its innovative and solutions-driven approach to waste processing and recycling.

Two recent high-profile contracts have helped put the firm on the map.

The first, a contract won on the company's own doorstep and awarded by Stirling Council, saw JCC provide a customised mobile recycling solution for the landfill site at Lower Polmaise.

The new mobile material sorting system, consisting of a custom designed mobile trommel & picking station, which was designed, manufactured and installed by the firm went operational in March this year and has allowed the Council to recycle at maximum efficiency.

As part of our standard specification, the ‘picking station' was fitted with double glazed windows and doors and insulated cladding for the comfort and security of the operators, along with a complete emergency stop system. These picking stations are also available for hire, including the specifications above.

The second contract - with a contract value of £175,000 - has seen the business design, manufacture and install a 24-man twin picking station system for A&M Smith Skip Hire in Aberdeen, with four overband magnets and twin blower system.  JCC has also been awarded the contract for ensuring compatibility with existing plant and co-ordination of the set up for the new recycling centre.

JCC are one of the largest Scottish manufacturers of recycling & picking station solutions, mobile or static, and have recently developed a new low cost picking table for the skip hire / demolition market which will be available for £16,000, or to hire, and should allow smaller skip hire companies, or companies with a variety of smaller sites to recycle their products off the ground to increase the health & safety of their staff and to also increase the maximisation of the recycling process. All our products are CE marked and are subject to stringent health & safety testing as part of the manufacturing process.

The company are also accredited for ISO 9001:2000 quality assurance and are members of the Chartered Institute of Wastes Management, Constructionline and Link Up.

From their base in Scotland, the firm also provide separation and conveyor systems, plant maintenance, welding & fabrication, hydraulic pressure testing and repair, mobile & static trommel screens, lorry mounted crane hire, and low ground pressure excavator conversions.

Our clients include local authorities, waste contractors, recycling companies, demolition companies & quarries - all over the UK and also abroad.
