Who is Smiley Monroe?

Smiley Monroe is one of the leading suppliers of conveyor belting, conveyor components & synthetic screen decks to the crushing, screening and recycling industries in both the UK & Irish markets, exporting worldwide.

Since 1979, Smiley Monroe has been supplying conveyor belts and service to the bulk handling and mineral extractive industries including quarrying, mining, cement, fertiliser, power stations, agricultural and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).  We have built strong relationships with several strategic partners, establishing a worldwide distribution network and are now one of the largest manufacturers of endless conveyor belts for the mobile crushing and screening sector in Europe.

We pride ourselves on working closely with every customer to provide solutions in order to achieve long-term value.  Our proven expertise and understanding of customer requirements, combined with a commitment to ensuring continuity of service, means that customer relationships are sustained and strengthened.  We strive to consistently meet and exceed customer expectations on quality and service.

From our beginnings as a conveyor belt and site service supplier, we have expanded to incorporate two main divisions: Manufactured Rubber Products and Sales & Service (Smiley Monroe DIRECT), now supported by a local service depot network covering NI & ROI.

          Peace of mind from a complete, all-island service team, covering both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, offering our customers extensive technical support ranging from repairs and retro-fitting to performance improvement.

Modern equipment and regular training help us to retain and develop experienced people.  Our training and development plan ensures that we maintain a level of workmanship that is of the highest level and that the services we provide are consistent and conform to manufacturing standards.  Our full range of vulcanising skills combined with our conveyor experience help us to deliver inspection reports, conveyor safety audits and practical preventative maintenance.

Quality Assurance

Smiley Monroe is totally committed to quality at all levels.  To achieve our objectives on quality and service, we operate the ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management System and OHSAS 18001 Safety Management System.

          Stretched to Breaking Point

We test the abrasion resistance, tensile strength and adhesion levels of both the cover rubber and fabric of conveyor belts - our main raw material to ensure conformity to DIN and ISO standards.

Our in-house laboratory also boasts one of Europe's few dynamic testers which means, through simulating accelerated life of conveyor belt and splices especially when used within minimum diameter pulleys, we can now test conveyor belt quality to its limits for flex, durability, adhesion, stretch, joint types and tensile strength compared to DIN and Smiley Monroe standards.

Our goal is to consistently improve our performance to benefit our customers, employees, suppliers and sub-contractors.  We aim to identify and provide to our employees the skills necessary to sustain the process of quality improvement, and our Quality Manager has the responsibility of continuously reviewing the Quality Management System, identifying any quality problems and taking corrective action to improve its effectiveness.
