The telescopic boom of the JCB Teletruk counterbalanced forklift offers several benefits over ordinary forklifts with vertical straight masts.
For End of Life Vehicle ( ELV ) recycling the Teletruk is ideally suited to lifting old cars from delivery trucks. In this application the Teletruk is fitted with 1800mm forks on a rotator to adjust and hold the scrap vehicle level against the weight of its engine and gearbox. Also, if a scrap car has been loaded at an awkward angle the entire attachment and forks carriage can be tilted through 111 degrees. This wide flexibility is not possible with any ordinary masted FLTs designed to work in warehouses with storage racking.
The combination of forwards reach, rotation and tilt are also perfect for placing vehicles on decontamination rigs.
The main benefit of the JCB Teletruk is forwards reach combined with the small vehicle footprint of the standard industrial forklift . Cardboard baled on board Cunard's flagship cruise liner The Queen Mary is here offloaded by a 3.5 tonnes capacity JCB Teletruk- (see above)
Attachments such as shovels can be changed in less than 20 seconds with the automatic JCB Changezee quick-disconnect hydraulic carriage. This means a single JCB Teletruk can do the work not only of ordinary masted forklifts, but also of skid steer loaders and small loading shovels.
Another key option is four-wheeled drive. Whilst this is not intended for rough terrain or open land because of the heavy counterbalanced design, it is nevertheless ideal for unmade roadways, potholes and gradients where ordinary counterbalanced lift truck couldn't go.
All machines in the JCB Teletruk range have fully-enclosed hydrostatic transmissions.
