Wash away your excess costs with Hippowash
Hippowash designs, manufactures and supplies a range of automatically operated, high pressure wheel wash systems that recycle the water they use. Over 150 systems have been installed in sites within the quarrying, waste management and construction industries in the UK. Our systems are engineered to accommodate all road-going mobile plant whose wheels need effectively cleaning prior to leaving site, including articulated lorries, tippers, dumper trucks and waste collection vehicles.

The Hippowash range has been designed to provide an effective wash that is economical to operate and very easy to use. The wash cycle is automatically activated by the approaching vehicle passing a senor at the front of the unit. Large volumes of water are delivered under high pressure in a low-profile spray targeting the vehicles tyres, treads, wheel arches and chassis. The main wash pump is inverter-driven providing 50% savings in power. The large side screens assist in capturing 95% of the water which is collected within the sub-floor of the wash platform from where it is pumped to a Siltbuster HB50 ST recycling unit.

The Siltbuster HB50 ST is only available from Hippowash for use in wheel wash applications. This is the most effective water recycling system available; within 5m2 it performs as well as a 100m2 lagoon or 7 settlement tanks. Here 95% of suspended silt particles are removed from the water by contacting lamella plates located within the clarifying section of the unit. They collect in the hoppers at the bottom of the unit allowing quick and easy removal with no need for any specialist equipment. Clean water is delivered into the header tank for use on demand.

Hippowash is always at the forefront of product innovation and can now offer an automated hopper discharge system. This manages the discharging of the silt that accumulates in the hoppers of the Siltbuster, significantly reducing the operational input from site staff. A further development has been to incorporate a filter press into our system to transform the sludge discharge into usable silt cakes. This process de-waters the discharge resulting in a more solid material that is easy to re-use. It also allows us to recycle the supernate water within the system. Systems are available for use on light, medium and heavy usage sites. They can be installed above ground with access ramps, or inset into the ground.
