Blue Machinery has expanded its product range to offer its customers a single source for the supply, installation, commissioning and after-sales service and maintenance of screens, crushers, trommels, shredders and chippers, washing equipment, composting machinery and density separators.

From four offices strategically placed throughout the UK Blue Machinery continues to deliver materials processing solutions to the quarrying, mining, waste management, recycling and composting industries.

Field service engineers are committed to minimising downtime and provide a reliable support service for customers' most critical moments, as well as routine servicing and maintenance, ensuring continuous productivity by the machines that are the Backbone of Your Business.

When Dunmow Skips decided to upgrade their recycling procedures they turned to screening, crushing and recycling equipment specialists Blue Machinery.

Dunmow Skips quickly found that they were in safe hands and, after visiting a number of similar operations where Blue Machinery's expertise was already well proven, the company placed a significant order for a complete "compact" recycling plant based around Powerscreen equipment.

Father and son team of Steve and Sam Malins are new customers for Blue Machinery and operate a fleet of skips, skip lorries and roll-on-off trucks. The company had been manually sorting incoming waste and this slow method led to a backlog of material that took up valuable space. The Malins' target for increasing saleable product tonnage and reducing tip-to-landfill volumes was falling short of their expectations and the need for a fully mechanised system became top priority.

Dunmow Skip's Powerscreen recycling system has been in place for six months now and has transformed the company's activities:

  • Tip-to-landfill volumes are hugely reduced and exceeding targets
  • No backlog of material waiting to be treated
  • Valuable stockpile space is freed up for a more effective working area
  • Re-arrangement of the yard layout gives room for expansion

Dunmow Skips report they are saving around 50% of their original operating costs.

  • Decreased waste to landfill and associated taxes
  • Increased volume of cleaner secondary aggregates and hardcore for crushing
  • Better quality fines
  • Increased saleable wood for pulping
  • Doubled reclaimed tonnages of scrap metals for selling on to reprocessors
