BEST-CHEM is Europe's leading manufacturer of Foam Dust Suppression Systems and specialty Foaming Agents for controlling process dust in Mines and Quarries.
In addition BEST-CHEM also manufacture in the UK under license from Momar Inc of USA a number of unique products for
- treatment of minerals / aggregates in Rail Wagons to prevent emissions of nuisance dust whilst in transit.
- encapsulation of stockpiles to prevent nuisance dust and loss of product through erosion.
- suppression of nuisance of dust from Haul Roads
Foam dust suppression systems
The use of Foam Technology to control nuisance dust in mineral / aggregate processing and handling is relatively new in the UK. This technique was pioneered by our partners Momar Inc in the USA over 20 years ago.
Since that time the application equipment and techniques have been much improved and our system is now the most versatile and reliable. We have also developed a mobile version which allows us to carry out demonstrations - giving potential customers a realistic appraisal of its capability.
Foam Dust Suppression Systems have a number of key advantages over alternative techniques such as Extraction Systems, Water/Surfatctant Spray Systems and Fogging or Misting Systems.
The key difference is that Foam Systems - "prevent dust from getting airborne in the first place."
From this basic but important difference flows a number of other advantages
- Once treated the dust will remain with the material and will not be released at subsequent transfer points, screens, stack outs nor load outs
- Foam systems use 1/30th to 1/50th of the amount of water compared to traditional water spray systems
- Foam Systems require a fraction of the energy required to run large and cumbersome extraction plants
- Foam systems are not susceptible to freezing temperatures
- Maintenance cost is very minimal
Rail wagon treatment systems
In 2006 we introduced DustCryl - our unique Dust Control - Soil Stabilization - Erosion Prevention product.
DustCryl is an acrylic-vinyl emulsion specially formulated to provide optimum penetration and bonding when applied to fine or granular material.
It is easily diluted with water ( up to 1:30) to provide superior cohesion and elasticity. As such it is ideal for treating rail wagons loaded with dusty material. One spray application seals the top layers preventing any nuisance dust during transit.
We Design, Build and Install a complete application system to apply the DustCryl. The systems are fully automated and the equipment is packaged and fitted in a modified container. A number of different trigger mechanisms are available to operate the system including a manual switch allowing the operators to treat wagons at their discretion.
DustCryl has been successfully used to treat a number materials including - Coal, fly ash and aggregates.
Stockpiles and Verges
Quite apart from nuisance dust emissions from stockpiles - research has shown that significant stock losses can arise from erosion in a short period of time.
DustCryl - our Soil Stabilization and Erosion Rrevention product is ideally suited for such applications. It is extremely versatile and exhibits outstanding performance in the areas of ;
- Sealing efficiency
- Erosion resistance
- Freeze-thaw resistance
- General surface appearance
- Drying
- Scrub resistance
- Water resistance
If undisturbed a stockpile treated with DustCryl will remain dust free for long periods - often exceeding 3 to 4 weeks before a repeat treatment is required.
