Drilling and blasting
An operation performed after face profiling has been completed. Shot holes are dilled at specific positions indicated by the profile. The explosives are then loaded in the hole with detonator cord to within a few metres from the top. The remaining depth is then filled with either quarry dust of aggregate. A single blast can fragment thousands of tonnes of rock.
